WHAT IS MY FACE SHAPE?

When trying to decide which styles look best on you, it’s helpful to know what your basic face shape is because the shape of your face affects how different cuts or styles will look.

Face shape is determined by the position of facial bones, as well as the width and height of your features.

To determine your face shape, pull all of your hair completely off the face and take a selfie or look in the mirror, then compare what you see with the guidelines below.

Oval: It looks like an oval. The forehead is just slightly wider than the chin area. More specifically, if you measure the face (width across the brow, and the length from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin), the length is about 1 & 1/2 times longer than the width .

Round: The length and width of the face is equal. Rounded hairline, a shorter forehead and chin, and a rounded jawline. Note: So many clients I talk to think their face shape is round, especially if they put on weight, but most are not. Remember, we are looking at the bone structure.

Square: The length, width and jawline are about equal in length. Wider facial features, sharper or square at jawline, and shorter forehead.

Diamond: Narrow forehead, wide through the cheekbones, and a narrow chin. The cheekbones are wider than the forehead and the jawline.

Inverted Triangle: Also called a heart shaped face. Wider forehead, and a narrower pointed chin, like an upside down triangle.

Triangle: Narrow forehead, and then a wide jaw and wide chin.

Oblong: Face is long, narrow, and has sunken cheeks. Roughly resembles a rectangle, but with softer corners. More specifically, the length of the face is generally more than 1 & 1/2 times longer than it is wide.
